Apple Watch. When Old News becomes New News.

If all of your listeners have an iDevice paired with their iWatch? Soon your downloads will be reduced by 50%. Fortunately, most of us are not 100% dependant on 100% Apple downloads. In "recent" news, that was first reported on Libsyn's "The Feed" two years ago it appears if a subscriber has an iWatch- when docked that watch will download all the podcasts on its paired device effectively doubling download numbers. For reasons unexplained the IAB (the official certification for download numbers) just announced these duplicate numbers should not be counted. Why did it take 2 years to make this decision? So if your download numbers drop by 20 or 30% over the next few weeks you know why. If you use Libsyn as a host (JLewis Productions recommends Libsyn as their preferred hosting platform) they already noticed the error and have been correcting the numbers for the past 2 years, so you shouldn't see a change. Sorry, iHeart Media and Anchor... (Please note Apple has done nothing wrong here, frankly I would be upset if my iWatch didn't pair with my iPhone to keep my podcasts up to date, we are just questions why it took the IAB and other hosts so long to acknowledge what is happening.)
